Hormones and fatty acid metabolism in white adipose tissue [proceedings].

چکیده
This short review is devoted to considerations of acute regulation rather than longerterm effects achieved through dietary manipulation or massive and prolonged hormone administration in t h o . Adipose-tissue fatty acid metabolism is conveniently divided into: assimilation of fatty acids from circulating lipoproteins; synthesis de novo of fatty acids, mainly from carbohydrate; assembly of triacylglycerol and phospholipids (esterification); fatty acid oxidation and triacylglycerol degradation (lipolysis). All of these processes can be acutely influenced by hormones in some way. In addition, one should also consider the roles of long-chain fatty acids or their derivatives as possible regulators of metabolism.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the context of lipid metabolism research in physical activity, lipolysis, lipolysis hormone regulation and the fate of lipolysis products in exercise, fatty acid transporters, some genes involved in lipid metabolism, effect of resistance activity on lipolysis, adaptations of adipose tissue due to physical activity, lipoproteins and apoproteins...
متن کاملMacronutrient metabolism of adipose tissue at rest and during exercise: a methodological viewpoint.
The metabolism of white adipose tissue is regulated by many factors, including hormones and substrates delivered in the blood, the activity of the autonomic nervous system and the rate of flow of blood through the tissue. An integrated view of adipose tissue metabolism can only be gained, therefore, from studies in vivo. Of the various techniques available for studying adipose tissue metabolism...
متن کاملFatty acid oxidation is required for active and quiescent brown adipose tissue maintenance and thermogenic programing
OBJECTIVE To determine the role of fatty acid oxidation on the cellular, molecular, and physiologic response of brown adipose tissue to disparate paradigms of chronic thermogenic stimulation. METHODS Mice with an adipose-specific loss of Carnitine Palmitoyltransferase 2 (Cpt2A-/-), that lack mitochondrial long chain fatty acid β-oxidation, were subjected to environmental and pharmacologic int...
